i live on the east coast of scotland, with a south facing garden. i’ve got an unheated greenhouse but have a big heated propogator.
last year i had a nightmare with my tomatoes in hanging baskets, they were all blighted
i have a patch that i’ve grow strawberries on but haven’t lifted them, had a baby in oct so have been otherwise occupied…
so my question to you knowledgeable gang is what should i be growing that will maximise what i have?

There are lots of seeds that do well in Scotland and if anyone wants to ask about specific types just ask and we’ll do our best to find out. In the meantime, here are some ideas:
Beetroot – Boltardy http://seeds.suttons.co.uk/search?w=boltardy
Carrots:
Carrot Chantenay Red Cored http://www.suttons.co.uk/Shop/Vegetable+Seeds/Carrot+Chantenay+Red+Cored+2+Seeds+157335.htm
Eskimo http://www.suttons.co.uk/Shop/Vegetable+Seeds/Carrot+F1+Eskimo+Seeds+157319.htm
Tomatoes:
Tomato Ailsa Craig http://www.suttons.co.uk/Shop/Vegetable+Seeds/Tomato+Ailsa+Craig+Seeds+180850.htm
Tomato Moneymaker http://www.suttons.co.uk/Shop/Vegetable+Seeds/Tomato+Moneymaker+Seeds+180761.htm
Pea Kelvedon Wonder http://www.suttons.co.uk/Shop/Vegetable+Seeds/Pea+Kelvedon+Wonder+Seeds+190447.htm
Broad Bean Giant Exhibition Longpod http://www.suttons.co.uk/Shop/Vegetable+Seeds/Bean+(Broad)+Giant+Exhibition+Longpod+Seeds+194090.htm
Actually this is such an interesting train of thought, and there are loads of other varieties, I’ll put up a blog post over the next few days.
